I hired John in the early 80’s for his extensive knowledge of passive components at a time we were expanding our active and passive components business.
I have been retired since 2000, but do check from time to time how the group is doing. I still see divisions where the products and services are as they were back in the day, plus new ones that excite me.
My interest in amateur radio communication continues to this day as it did throughout my time running Steatite Group, hence antennas is a subject I understand plus battery pack apps.
Congratulations John for a job well done!

Hi, I am a product designer currently working on a battery powered unit potentially using a 26650 5000mA/h Li Ion cell.
In practice, the cell will be removed from the product for recharging. However, I do need to protect the cell from over discharge. There are obviously two options for this, either use a 'protected' cell with its own BMS, or include the BMS in the product.
I am seeking to get some advise on which to employ and also to find a supplier for a suitable 26650 cell.
The product is projected to sell between 2.5K ~ 4K /year.
Is this something you can help with?

Regards
Glyn
