Participation at DSEI and AOC EW Convention

The Company is pleased to announce its involvement at DSEI London 15th – 18th September, 2015, the world leading defence and security exhibition and the annual AOC EW Convention at Washington DC in December, 2015. This closely follows Steatite’s participation at the recent AOC EW Europe Convention at Stockholm during May, 2015.

During DSEI, Steatite Q-par Antennas will be located at stand number N4-292 and participating at the AOC EW Pavilion taking the opportunity to present its wide range of EW and SIGINT antenna capabilities including ultra-wideband omnidirectional, sinuous, spiral antennas and tripod mounted antenna positioners with wideband reflector / feed combinations. A regular exhibitor at the AOC event at Washington DC, the Company will be located at stand number 237 and Rob Lowther, Steatite’s Sales and Marketing Manager will be in attendance with colleagues from Q-par USA, the Company’s exclusive USA based distributor.

Steatite Launches SightView™ Video Distribution System

Steatite is pleased to announce the release of  SightView™  Tactical Video Distribution System (TVDS) that is designed to enable a team with up to four cameras to capture and record low latency video in difficult RF environments. The system uses the excellent Mobile Ad-Hoc Networking (MANET) capabilities of the MPU4 Wave Relay® radios. The combination of the MPU4 Wave Relay radios with the high quality low latency video codecs and cameras provide good quality streaming imagery from up to four cameras to a laptop based commander’s viewing station.

Steatite win Innovate UK funding to assist in the research and develop the next generation of Lithium batteries for MAS Systems

Steatite is delighted to announce that it has been awarded collaborative funding of £1.1 million towards the research and development of the next generation of Lithium Batteries for Marine Autonomous Systems (MAS).

A consortium of UK companies and academic partners, led by Steatite and co-funded by the UK’s innovation agency, Innovate UK, will produce a battery pack that will be pressure tolerant up to depths of 6000 metres. The collaboration includes cell manufacturer OXIS Energy Ltd, underwater vehicle designers and manufacturers MSubs Ltd and scientific expertise from the National Oceanography Centre (NOC).

Steatite is a specialist in the design and manufacture of Lithium battery pack solutions specifically for harsh operating environments including military, oil & gas, subsea, marine monitoring, and unmanned vehicles. Having previously worked with the NOC to develop a mission-critical battery solution that increased the AUV’s endurance whilst reducing whole life cost, Paul Edwards, Battery Business Manager said “This success strengthens our position as a manufacturer of battery and power solutions, the Innovate UK funding will bring together a class leading partnership from industry and academia which will provide a platform for future success, with each partner bringing a significant level of domain expertise to the consortium”   

Collectively this team will benefit from expertise at academic level, cell research level, pack assembly and as operational end users of MAS in the most challenging environments. This is a unique opportunity to establish a high pedigree consortium with an extensive knowledge of MAS, their operational requirements, product opportunities, with already established routes to market. OXIS Energy has been at the forefront of innovative R&D, building next generation Lithium Sulfur battery technology since 2005, while MSubs have a wealth of experience in all aspects of innovative underwater vehicle design and manufacture. The NOC has consistently been at the forefront of pioneering marine autonomous developments.

Ministry of Justice Contract Terms Agreed

Further to the announcement on 15 July 2014 by parent company SolidState plc (AIM: SSP), Steatite has now
finalised contract terms with the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) to supply monitoring hardware for GPS offender tagging. 

The contract for the supply of monitoring hardware is expected to havea value of approximately £34 million  over the three year minimum contract period.

It is anticipated that Steatite will be supplying initial products to the MoJ by the calendar year end. Quantities to be delivered are then expected to progressively increase over the contract term.

The contract is not expected to have a significant impact in the current financial year as most deliveries are expected to take place in financial years ending 31 March 2016 and 2017.The final deliveries will fall in the first half of financial year ending 31 March 2018 that the  gross margins  on the contract will be in line with the gross margins normally achieved by Steatite on its larger contracts.

Commenting on the contract award, Gary Marsh, Chief Executive of Solid State, said: 

“This is a landmark contract for the Group and our largest to date. It marks the culmination of three years development work by Steatite and suitably illustrates the scale and complexity of the contracts that we are increasingly tendering for.  I would like to congratulate John Lavery and his team for securing this high profile contract.”

Steatite Selected as MoJ Supplier

It was announced yesterday that Steatite, has been selected by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) as the supplier of monitoring hardware for GPS offender tagging.

Final contract terms are expected to be agreed by 26 July 2014. It is currently anticipated that Steatite will be supplying initial products to the MoJ by the year end. Further quantities are then expected to be supplied, based on a minimum contract award for a three year period. The contract is not expected to have a significant impact in the current financial year as most deliveries are expected to take place in financial years ending 31 March 2016 and 2017. A further announcement will be made once the contract has been finalised.

Getac Announces Product Update

Getac will officially  discontinue the B300 with 3rd Gen Intel Processor from the current product line. The last date to order this platform is August 11, 2014. This notice will not affect service support for units covered under the The new Getac B300, featuring latest Intel 4th Gen. Processor and other upgrades are available now.

Getac will officially discontinue the V100/V200 series from the current product line. The last date to order this platform is September 1, 2014. This notice will not affect service support for units covered under the Getac warranty.Getac V110 will be the replacement product of V100/V200. V110 features thinner and lighter unify body design.Further, the new configuration incorporates latest 4th Generation Intel processor and other high performance technologies while improving power efficiency.

The V110 rugged convertible has been built using the highest quality materials to make it unflinchingly resilient. The V110’s main chassis structure is precision cast using Magnesium Alloy, an incredibly strong structural metal that also happens to be one of the lightest in the world for it’s strength. Steatite at Oceanology International 2014

Steatite’s recent technology showcase at Oceanology International 2014 was a huge success for both Steatite and technology partners OXIS Energy. Boasting a record attendance of approximately 8,400 and 528 exhibiting companies from 35 countries, the event hosted the world’s largest display of state-of-the-art marine technologies, many being launched exclusively at OI 2014.

Steatite showcased the latest rechargeable lithium battery technology from OXIS Energy, presenting to one of the largest participating audiences at the events Innovation Zone Theatre. This technology presentation explained the significant benefits of Lithium Sulfur battery technology, which is set to provide game changing battery pack solutions for a host of applications in the oceanographic and marine industry.

Steatite also exhibited the Lithium Thionyl Chloride Battery solution it developed for NOC’s Autosub Long Range (ALR).

A scale model of ALR, supported by a case studydetailing Steatite’s work with NOC proved incredibly popular with visitors to the stand.

UK Windows Embedded Awareness Day 2013

On the 7th November 2013, Steatite was invited to showcase its embedded devices and intelligent systems to some 3000 Microsoft UK Employees at the UK Windows Embedded Awareness Day.

The event, hosted at the Microsoft Thames Valley Park Campus, in Reading, was to educate Microsoft account managers as well as marketing and sales folk from relevant subsidiaries on the breadth of Windows Embedded devices available in the market today as well as the opportunities available for intelligent systems.

Andy Weekes and Matt Brindle from Steatite were on hand to promote both our product offerings and wider capabilities.

Steatite signs an agreement with Oxis Energy

STEATITE SIGNS AN AGREEMENT WITH OXIS ENERGY THAT WILL RAPIDLY ENHANCE THE DEVELOPMENT OF LITHIUM SULFUR BATTERY SYSTEMS

Oxis EnergyThe agreement combines OXIS’s expertise in the development of pioneering cell technology with Steatite’s battery pack design and assembly skills. They have agreed to develop lithium sulfur rechargeable battery systems with advanced communications. These systems will be developed for a wide range of applications in the Oceanographic, Defence and Energy industry such as unmanned vehicles, as well as Li-S solar battery storage systems utilising photovoltaic cell technology.

With interest in the Downhole Oil and Gas industry they will work closely together in identifying suitable partners using OXIS Technology for use in Steatite Battery Systems.
